Arsenic in water?

Some will be surprised to learn that the chemical arsenic, commonly used to kill movie characters or deception spouses of new prime time, is also found in our drinking water every day. How can you ask for? Although it depends on their origin and if the water has gone through some form of treatment prior to ingestion.

Arsenic was discovered by Albertus Magnus in 1250 and quickly earned a reputation as a metalloid highly toxic and carcinogenic to humans. There are known to cause bladder, lung and skin cancer, and can cause cancer of the kidney and liver. The chemical attacks the central nervous system and peripheral damage to the heart and blood vessels and cause severe skin problems. It can also cause defects birth and reproductive problems.

Currently in the United States, the maximum permissible concentration of arsenic by EPA is 10 parts per billion (Ppb). It is also the limit recognized by the Organization World Health Organization. However, until January 2006, 50 ppb is considered acceptable in many states across the country. In most states, testing of wells is responsible for the transfer of the house, but arsenic is not always necessary to be shown. It is unfortunate that some regions of countries known to have high levels of arsenic in the rocks. As there are no federal standards for testing of wells, is ultimately the responsibility of the owner to the level of supervision.
