I am researching for a new puppy and you want choose one that is perfect for our family. I am torn between the Rat Terrier toys and toy Fox Terrier. Can anyone explain the differences in them and can tell me the advantages and disadvantages of each loaf. Thanks!

By Donna Sullivan, President Rat Terrier Club (UKC), let's review some obvious differences between a Terrier Toy Fox Terrier and a rat: TFT Size: ordered by weight - Depending on the age of 6 months can not weigh more than 7 pounds. Rat Terrier: Miniature up to 13 "- type over 13" years and not more than 18 years. "TFT Organization: It seems to be square with a height of approximately in length. The rear is strong, straight and firm. Rat Terrier Body: Slightly larger than the height of the 10:09 ratio preferred. The rear is strong and slightly sloping. TFT Colors: predominantly white colors acceptable white and black colors with tan, white and black, white and beige with specific brands of Black & Tan Rat Terrier Colors: Hairless - any skin color is acceptable, Freckles enlarge with age and the skin darkens with exposure to sunlight. Laying - white tricolor (white with black and beige), two colors (any combination of black, beige, chocolate and red, orange, lemon, blue or white), white can be any size and in any part of the dog. Ears should be erect TFT when alert, they are sharp and of course the sides together, do not touch, not too wide. Rat Terrier Ears: The ears are V-shaped outside the skull and may be erect, tipped or button. TFT Eyes: eye set is visible on the front, but not prominent, the color is still dark - so dark as possible preferred. Rat Terrier Eyes: The eyes are slanted, round and small - a little prominent, colored rim corresponds to the pigmentation of nose, color ranges from brown dark orange and coincides with the dress. TFT Appearance: a Small Dog that has conformation, characteristics and personality of a Terrier. Rat Terrier Appearance: a small to medium sized muscular hunting dog that is evaluated as a working terrier. Although the differences may seem subtle to the uninitiated, size, color, body, movement and uniqueness of each race.
