My husband had a back injury at work and had multiple interventions surgery (10 years). It has a large amount of scar tissue, which we believe is to rub against his shoulder blade causing immense pain. If a mass of scar tissue removed, is there any chance that there will be fewer "new tissue" scar that causes less pain?

Well, I had recent back surgery for scoliosis, and my knowledge and experience, if done correctly, with optimal results would be little or no pain. But yes, there possibility of whether it is really messed up shoulder that could still be in pain.
