Board Up Doors

Why would there be a need to board up doors? After all, aren’t most doors made of steel, vinyl or wood? Patio doors, store entry doors and front doors made from glass may suffer damage or breakage from different reasons. Glass pane replacements must to be ordered and in the meantime need to be secured against the elements or other threats to possessions or goods inside. Severe storms and hurricanes also call for glass doors to be secured against damage. Businesses that are closing will also board up doors to keep vandals from breaking the glass. Homeowners can call their local home improvement store to get the name of a reliable contractor, look in the phone book or use their own skills to board up doors. Small business owners may do this job themselves as well. What materials should the DIY (do it yourself) crowd use? Should the material be secured to the inside or the outside? How thick should it be? If wood is being used, what kind is needed? What kind of nails screws or bolts should be used? Is it a one or two person job? What if the material is going to be used again, say for a storm panel? What’s the fastest way to install it and take it down? What’s the best way to preserve it? These questions can be answered by the local home improvement store. If plywood is the chosen material, the local home improvement store can not only supply the necessary sheets, they can cut the sheets to fit as well. The first one or two cuts are usually free; other cuts are added to the cost. While it is less expensive than a contractor, if any damage is caused during the installation, the DIY person will have to make the repairs. Whichever method the homeowner/storeowner chooses to board up doors, there are materials and contractors available to suit their circumstances and their budget. Board up companies can provide all these services and more. In many cases, door board ups will need to be performed immediately as to prevent trespassers from entering the property. Most companies provide 24-hour emergency service in the case that you need it in the middle of the night.
