Late Night (or was it) Early Morning Cat Burglar
Blizzard’s tiny voice drifts to me
Wants badly, to go out and play
I open door she tiptoes slowly
Turns round and comes back in, to stay
The wind is cold the snow is deep
Though warmly coated she is shy
The houses warmth she chose to keep
Wants me to pet her, I comply
I close my eyes drift back to sleep
and start to settle in and dream
the memory of my dreams to keep
I wake up with a silent scream
Its sounds like a dozen robbers
Listening to Racket, overhead
Take a bat with which to clobber
Find only cat with mouse instead
How can it be, one lonely cat
with such a tiny squeaky voice
Makes so much noise, like that?
Would seem she really has no choice.
