How do I convert red and black speaker wire to a 3.5mm audio jacK?
I have a pair of old stereo speakers. Each has a red and black raw ended wire that use to "clip" to the back of my old stereo. I would like to still use the speakers, but would like to convert the wires into a standard 3.5mm RCA-type audio jack. Can I do that? What is the type of connector that I need called so I can search for it on Ebay? Thanks
I would not recommend it. I have seen cheaper stereos use RCA style connectors. The speakers that were hooked up to it were probably a much high impedance, 50Ω or greater. Most speakers that use wire are much lower impedance with the normal being 8Ω. I would check you impedance to be sure. If you use the lower impedance speakers you will toast the amp with to much draw.
You need to provide more detail on your exact setup including model numbers to make an informed decision. Mine is my best guess given the vague details.
